Shelby Paige (Buck) Greene

December 2, 1986 — June 22, 2016

Shelby Paige (Buck) Greene, It is with heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Shelby Paige, age 29, on Wednesday June 22, 2016. Shelby was born December 2, 1986, to Lisa Kay Owens and Kyle Stewart Buck, both deceased. Shelby was raised most of her life by her father Paul Joseph Hazlett. Shelby graduated from Southeastern High School in South Charleston, Ohio and continued her education on an athletic golf scholarship at Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio. She received a BA in psychology and continued her education at UU to receive a Master's Degree in criminal justice administration. Shelby worked numerous jobs throughout the course of her life, but remained loyal to help on the family farm near South Charleston. Shelby was a past member of the Guys and Dolls 4-H group and enjoyed showing swine at the Clark County Fair. Shelby was a stand-out athlete in fast pitch softball and had success at the travel ball level with Springfield Thunder and Ohio Blaze, and in high school. Shelby also excelled in golf and was the first female player from Southeastern to qualify for and play in Southwest District competition. She had success as part of the newly formed Urbana U. Blue Knights golf team and earned a 4-year varsity letter as well as being named to the American Mideast Conference All-Conference Team for the 2006-2007 season. Shelby was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Helen Owens, her biological mother (Lisa) that passed 7/26/2014, her biological father (Kyle) that passed 1/12/2015, her mother-in-law Mellisa Dawn Ballweg that passed 10/15/2015, and her husband Dustin Miles Greene that passed 11/14/2015. Shelby was also preceded in death by her grandfather figure Russell Vernon Hazlett, with whom she shared a special relationship, in 2000. Shelby is survived by her father Paul Joseph Hazlett, South Charleston, Ohio and her grandmother figure Frieda Mae Hazlett, whom she shared a close relationship and loved deeply. Shelby is survived by her pet dachshunds, Spanky age 11 and Remy Lebeau age 4. She loved her pets like children. Shelby leaves behind numerous friends and distant relatives. Many were not close but cared for her. No plans for any service or memorial are being made at this time. Shelby walked through life facing obstacles many never see. Her journey on earth was filled with adversity. Through it all she fought to be accepted. Her quiet nature, witty humor, and bright smile made her a joy to be around. She never knew a stranger and possessed a soft and caring heart. She fought her entire life wanting to be normal, wanting to be more, wanting to be loved. She achieved these things and much more. Shelby touched so many souls in a positive way. May she rest in peace knowing she made a difference in our world. In lieu of flowers, Paul has asked that contributions on Shelby's behalf be made to the South Charleston Youth Association (SCYA), or the Clark County 4-H Awards Committee. The family is being served by the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.richardsraffanddunbar.com.
