Julie Ann (Parrott) Smart
beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, cousin and friend. Born February 15, 1963 to the late Frank K. and Andrea Parrott. An inspirational and courageous woman who faced a 17 year oral cancer journey with faith, determination and a sharp wit, Julie died Thursday, September 29, 2016, with her sister at her side. A graduate of Northwestern High School, Julie recently celebrated 25 years as CFO of Dave Dennis, Inc., and marked a 30 year career in the auto dealership industry. As a gifted professional drummer, Julie was well known in jazz circles and, with her late husband Stanford Smart, performed with the groups Bobby Wilson's Touch of Class and Smart Set. Following Stan's unexpected death, she formed an all female trio The Jewels and began drumming for The Lord in the Nation Chapel and New Carlisle First United Methodist Church worship bands. Julie had a passion for collecting antiques, enjoyed showing restored Economy tractors, and served her community well as a key leader for several years in the New Carlisle Heritage of Flight Festival and raising thousands of dollars for the BCU food ministry through the annual Stan Smart Memorial Tractor Show. But most of all, Julie loved well her family and friends. In addition to her mother, Julie is survived by her sister Cindee (David) Johnson, brother Bill (Ann) Parrott, nephews Benjamin (Megan) Wolfe and Matthew Parrott, nieces Ashlee (Jeff) Freeman,Tonya Johnson andStephanie (Nate) Warner, great nephews and great niece Elijah, Jackson and Audrey Wolfe,Aiden and Austin Freeman,Riley Parrott, and Maxin and Beckett Warner,as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Julie was predeceased by her father Frank K. Parrott in 1986 and her husband Stanford Smart in 2011. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 2 at 3PM in the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, with Reverend Cindee Johnson officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home from 1-3PM. In lieu of flowers, Julie had hoped memorial contributions would be made to The Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, Oral Cancer Research, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905 and Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
