David Lemon Hayes, Sr. 64, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016. He was born July 1, 1951 in Springfield the son of James A. and Esther (Carter) Hayes and was a 1972 graduate of Northeastern High School. David had worked as a grill cook at Bonanza and Wendy’s until he was disabled by illness. While at Bonanza he won a trip around the world and it was one of the great adventures of his life. He formerly attended Trinity Missionary Church and Grace Missionary Baptist Church, and was attending services at North Hill 2 Towers. David is survived by his wife Maryann (Howard) Hayes, whom he married October 16, 1981; his son David L. Hayes, Jr.; goddaughters Brandy and Kim; sister Shirley Hanshaw, all of Springfield; brother Glenn (Jackie) Hayes of Panama City, FL; grandchildren Emma Everhart and Colten Hayes; step grandchildren Caryn, Adon and Lilliean Karus; brothers-in-law Steve and David Howard; three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers James Hayes, Jr. and Sam Hayes. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 5, at 11:00 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Rev.
