Cheryl ‘Cherie’ Clow was born February 9th 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Hilmar Mayer Jr. and Mary Mayer. Cherie passed into God’s presence July 12th 2020. Cherie lived a full life as a dedicated homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved cooking, gardening, playing the piano, knitting, reading, visiting botanical gardens, and being with her family. Cherie had a strong faith in God and loved attending the Miami Valley Bible Church in Beavercreek, OH. Cherie graduated from the University of Iowa in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While at the University of Iowa she met her Husband Douglas "Doug." Cherie and Doug married in 1966. Cherie enjoyed giving of herself and volunteering. In 1974 she volunteered her time and skills as a nurse providing aid to victims of the Xenia tornado. She spent many hours volunteering at Right to Life in Springfield, The Buckeye Trail, donated Bibles for prison ministries, played the piano for her church and played the organ for the Pennsylvania House in Springfield. Cherie had an unending passion for learning about nutrition, local history and a love of music. Cherie was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Cherie will be sadly missed by those who know her and love her. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents. Cheryl is survived by her Brother, Scott Mayer, husband Douglas, sons Andrew (Angie) Clow; Alex (Rebecca) Clow; grandchildren Andrea Clow, Luke Clow, Victoria Clow, Timothy Clow and Elizabeth Clow. Visitation will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 from 11am-12pm at the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Funeral Home at 838 East High Street in Springfield. The funeral service to honor Cheryl will begin at 12:00 PM at the memorial home. A brief interment ceremony will follow at the Plattsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Miami Valley Bible Church or Ohio’s Hospice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.richardsraffanddunbar.com.
