Zona G. Castle

Zona G. Castle, 83, of Springfield passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 after several years of failing health. She was born September 9, 1933 in Lawrenceville, the daughter of Harold A. and Ruth (Voris) Derr and was a 1951 graduate of Springfield High School. Zona had worked for Springfield Home Health Care and was a longtime volunteer for the Animal Welfare League. She is survived by her four children Cynthia (Steven) Smith of Dry Ridge, KY, William C. (Terry L.) Flaker of Springfield, Lorraine K. Flaker of Gold Hill, OR, and Jonathon P. Flaker of Springfield; step daughter Marsha Cordle of Lexington, KY; step sons Carl Shawn Castle of Wilmington, NC, and Scott Castle of Midland, AL; nine grandchildren Chanda Fields, Karl Combs, Megan Johnson, Jordan Smith, Benjamin, Nicholas and Mathew Flaker, Jessica and Heather Flaker; two nieces Jill and Jo Yvette; one nephew Jody. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl Castle in 2011; sister Joyce (Jack) McMullen; and nephew Josh McMullen. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 -2 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF &DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Zona’s life will be Thursday at 2:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with her son-in-law Steven Smith officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
