Virginia "Ginny" Ross

November 9, 1922 — March 12, 2017

Virginia ("Ginny") Lee Ross

went home to be with Jesus on March 12, 2017. She was a loyal and caring woman, a bright light to family and friends. She shared her values of loyalty and honesty by living them daily. She was born on November 9, 1922 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Roy Smith and Ruth Smith Miller. Virginia married the love of her life, Jack E. Ross, on August 3, 1946. They spent 70 happy years as soul-mates, and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with their devoted family last summer. Virginia's husband, family, and faith were the center of her life. She lovingly cared for her husband and daughters every day. She loved to tend to the garden and her flowers, bake and cook for her family, and sew clothes for her 3 daughters. She was an avid reader and instilled a lifelong love of books and learning in her children. On a summer day, she loved to swim and take a picnic to the park with her family. Virginia and Jack lived in their beloved home in Medway for over 55 years before moving to Springfield, Ohio. Virginia worked for the Bethel Local School District for 35 years, in both the Medway Elementary School and Tecumseh High School. She loved being with the children. Virginia was a member of the Medway United Methodist Church for many years, and then the New Carlisle United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the church "circles", the church activities, and her many friends. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Jack; her three daughters Linda (Mike) Robertson of Indianapolis, Nancy (Paul) Behymer of Indianapolis, and Patricia Ross of Springfield; her grandchildren Ryan (Jen) Robertson, Ross (Sara) Robertson, Derek Rabe, and Tracy Burks (Craig and family); great grandchildren Alli, Jack, Ben, and Ruby Robertson; and son-in-law Dick Rabe.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Armstrong and Annette "June" Miller, and by her brother Robert Smith. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 18, from 12:00-1:30 at TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. A service from 1:30-2:00 will be officiated by Rev. Frank James and followed by committal at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
