Virgil Loverne Johnson, 80, of Fairborn passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Hospice of Dayton after a brief illness. He was born March 22, 1936 in Soldier, KY the son of Harve and Zada (Bair) Johnson. Virgil served in the United States Army and retired from Dayton Showcase with thirty-four years of service. He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield and loved playing music, gardening, and being outdoors, shooting his guns and hunting ginseng. Virgil is survived by five children and their spouses Andy and Patty Johnson, Becky and Cliff Hitchcock, Tammy and Eugene Phillips, Tim and Jill Johnson, all of Fairborn, and Christina Stephens of Soldier, KY; a brother and sister-in-law Oshel and Polly Johnson; two sisters Donnie Bradley and Ann Mocabee, all of Soldier, KY; nine grandchildren Brandy Duran of Beavercreek, Michael (Amanda) Phillips of Enon, Brian (Dawn) Phillips of Fairborn, Rachel and Shawn Hitchcock of Fairborn, Tiffany (Randy) Johnson of Beavercreek, Andrew Johnson of Fairborn, Alex (Jessica) Johnson of Lexington, KY, and Leah (Ruben) Ortiz of Boca Raton, FL; six great grandchildren Maya Duran, Clayton Phillips, Landon and Declan Phillips, Jamison and Maxwell Ortiz; numerous other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; his former wife Wanda Johnson Valentine; a brother Delbert Johnson; two sisters Judy Ramp and Willadean Blevins; a nephew Steve Johnson and a grandson Jacob Hitchcock. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 noon – 1 PM. in Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Springfield. The service to honor Virgil’s life will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the church with Pastors Michael Phillips and Orbie Estep officiating. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery. The family is being served by the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 427 S.
