CARTER, Tona 72, of Logan, OH, formerly of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015. He was born September 20, 1943 in Grace Branch, KY, the son of William H. and Nola Mae (Kelley) Carter. Tona had retired from Navistar and was a member of UAW Local 402. He was also a former Clark County Reserve Deputy Sherriff and enjoyed being an amateur AM radio operator. Tona was preceded in death by his parents; son Matthew Aaron Carter; sister Linda Lou Hirons; brothers-in-law Edward and Clarence Strome; numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Dorothy Marie (Strome) Carter; a son Patrick Sean Carter; a brother Walter D. Carter; a sister Mae (Bob) Hansford; brothers-in-law Darrel (Martha) Strome and Larry (Janet) Strome; grandchildren Amanda Harris, Heather Gleason, Samantha Carter and Darien Carter; great-grandchildren Gabriel and Lillian; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor Tona's life will be Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the start of service.
