Thelma N. Purtee 65, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2023. She was born on February 26, 1958, to the late Ann Watkins in Logan County, Ohio. Thelma was a member of Troy Christian Church and formerly Cove Spring Church. She was a stay-at-home grandma, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, led women’s bible study, and volunteered at the Troy Health Center & Food Bank. Thelma worked at Miami East as a Bus aid and lunch lady, all while helping run their family business, Bill’s Machine Service. She was devoted to her 12 grandchildren and family. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bill Purtee Sr.; four children, Lisa (Alfonso) Olivares, Bill (Jill) Purtee Jr., Joe (Kristi) Purtee, & Sam Purtee; grandchildren, Gabriel, Cristina & Joshua Olivares, Kate, Lydia, Abby & Tanner Purtee, Isabelle, Rosie, Ava, Ellie & Scarlett Purtee; siblings, George (Alice) Thompson, Karol Creger, Keith (Dawn) Thompson, Tammy (Ron) Purtee; sister-in-law Sandy Thompson and many other relatives and friends. Along with her mother she is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Dan and Judy Thompson; brother Randy Thompson; sister Kay Thompson; and brother-in-law Chuck Creger. Visitation will be held at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with a service to follow at noon. Private Graveside services will be held at New Carlisle Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in recognition of their phenomenal care for Thelma.
