Taeko Beals

Taeko Beals, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully at her home of 59 years in New Carlisle Ohio on March 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Taeko was born March 13, 1934, in Yokohama, Japan as one of 7 children. She came to America after meeting and marrying her late husband Freddie Beals during the Korean War. They had 3 children, Theresa Beals of Huron Ohio, Laura Stone of New Carlisle Ohio and Scott (Stacy) Beals of Dayton Ohio. After Freddie died in 1972, she raised her children on her own and never remarried. She worked full time at Yamada North America in South Charleston until the age of 89 as a Japanese interpreter. She loved the job and people she worked with.   Taeko took great joy in cooking for and feeding everyone. She will be remembered by her family for her great sacrifices in helping them, and her amazing strength in how she approached life.  We will all miss her greatly. Surviving her are her children; grandchildren Marisa (Paul) Meyer and Brian (Karolyn) Stone; great grandchildren August and Cooper Meyer; 3 brothers in Japan; step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held April 2, 2025, from 4-6pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, with a celebration of life for Taeko beginning at 6:00pm at the funeral home.
