Susan Lynn Shaffer, the first of four siblings, was born on February 3, 1951, in

unforgiving illness, she made her transition from this earthly life to be with the Lord in
eternal glory on December 31st, 2022, at Allen View Healthcare Center, Springfield, Ohio,
at the age of 71.
Susan was a loving and devoted housewife and a faithful attendee of El Bethel Temple in

in her garden, and was an avid collector of precious moments, and Longaberger baskets.
Most of all she enjoyed spending quality time with her family.
Susan was an awesome devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved and
respected by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was proceeded in death by
her parents and sister, Margaret Sagle, infant great-grandchildren Tristan and Jayden; first
husband, and father of her children Warren M Casto; mother-in-law Barbara Schafer;
special friend Barbara “Pookie” Parker.
Susan leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving husband Larry Shaffer of 27
years of Springfield, Ohio; two sons, William (Peggy) Casto of Kenton, Ohio, and Warren
(Kelly) Casto of Athens, Ohio; daughters Susan (Richard) Burns of Sidney, Ohio, and Julie
(James) Bowles of Urbana, Ohio; brothers, Dave (Sherry) Sagle, and Jim (Angie) Hutchins;
sister, Terri (Terry) Perkins; brother-in-law, Bob (Sherry) Shaffer, sister-in-law Barbara
Shaffer; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; Several nieces, nephews, and a host of
friends. Last but definitely not least, her “Aunt Wilma” Johnson, was like a truly loving
mother, nurturer, close friend, and a loving guide throughout her life.
Susan Lynn Shaffer will be greatly missed.
