Ruth Avanell Burton

Ruth Avanell Burton, 93, of New Carlisle, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. She was born August 26, 1931, in West Liberty, KY, the daughter of Clay and Lizzie Alice Byrd. Ruth dedicated her life to her family, loving and supporting them was her favorite thing. She enjoyed gardening and never met a stranger. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Clyde Burton; sons Vernon Lee Collinsworth and Blaine Burton; son-in-law David Caudill; and siblings Larry, Helen, Marg, Rita, Graham, Flo, and Lavonna. She is survived by her daughters Lisa King, Vanessa Caudill, and Melinda (Harold) McKibben; sister Nancy Holbrook; Six grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 10-11am with the funeral to honor Ruth beginning at 11:00am at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home.
