Robert Franklin Massie, 89, of Park Layne, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 in his residence. He was born June 17, 1928 in Selma, Ohio, the son of Homer and Chloe Massie. He was one of ten children. He served in the United States Navy. He retired from Clark County Engineers in May 1999 after 23 years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Rose of Park Layne, OH, sons Ronald and wife Molly, of Darius, Connecticut; Douglas and wife Carol, of Tucson, AZ; Robert and wife Debbie, of Stafford, VA; Wayne and wife Teri, of West Alexandria, OH; Matthew of Eaton, OH; his sister Winifred (Massie) Morick of Port Charlotte, FL; brother David Massie of Springfield, OH; and beloved dog Maggie. He is a proud and loving grandfather and great-grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 17 great­grandchildren. His passion after retirement was woodworking and creating various wood furnishings for all his family. He was preceded in his death by his parents; three sisters, Phyllis, Reva, and Mary; four brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Edward, and Richard. The family expresses sincere appreciation for the wonderful and compassionate support from the Nurses and Care Providers from Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. Private services were held, with burial in Myers Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle.
