DIGEL, Robert Helms 61, of Springfield passed away Friday, November 13, 2015. He was born December 21, 1953 in Springfield the son of Judge Lewis W. and Janet C. (Helms) Digel. Bob was a 1972 graduate of North High School and served in The U.S. Army. He retired from the City of Springfield with over 20 years service and was employed at Home Depot. Bob was a member of First Christian Church and St. Andrews Lodge #619, F & AM. He is survived by his mother Janet Digel-Koerner; his wife of 42 years Kerry J. (King) Digel, both of Springfield; three sons Robert L.K. (Emily) Digel of Olathe, KS, Nicholas A. (Kellie) Digel of Hilliard, OH, and Matt (Verity) Digel of South Charleston; five grandchildren Emma and Ruby Kolenda, Maddie Digel, Zoe and Eli Digel; one sister Sarah (Evan) Digel Miller of Ridgefield, CT; one brother John C. (Marisa) Digel of Troy; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather George Koerner; in-laws Robert and Dorothy King. The service to honor Bob's life will be Monday at 11:00 AM. in First Christian Church beginning with Masonic services, followed by Ministers Craig Grammer and Dwight McCormick and Military Honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or the Springfield Regional Cancer Center.
