Robert Gary Brookey, 80, of New Carlisle went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by family.
He was born on August 22, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Elwood Brookey, Sr. (Dee) and Ruth Mae Rowland (Jess), and his brother, Thomas Elwood Brookey, Jr. Bob is survived by his wife Sharon Brookey, daughter Lisa Olwin (James), grandson Joshua Mooney (Ryan), great-grandchildren Carly Harper and Evelyn Mooney, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bob graduated from Fairmont High School, class of 1962. He was a welder at Durion for 30 years. After his retirement, he worked for 15 years as a Bus Driver for Tecumseh Local Schools, made and delivered birdhouses, and was a funeral assistant at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar, and Fraley Funeral Home for the last seven years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Carlisle and regularly attended Sunday School.
He had several interests including the love of riding his motorcycle, traveling, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, scuba diving, playing euchre, and woodworking, and was a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle. The family will accept visitors from 11 am to 1 pm, with the funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park.
