Richard D. Hayes, Jr.

Hayes, Jr. Richard D., 67 of Springfield died suddenly November 20, 2016 in his residence. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 31, 1949, the son of Richard and Betty Hayes, Sr. Rick proudly served his country for 37 1/2 years in the US Air Force Reserves retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant having served in three wars. He was an inaugural member of the Order of the Rhino and highly respected by his military family. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, traveling, boating, and doing just about everything for his kids, always with a cigar in hand. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Janis, whom he married November 28, 1969; sons Doug (Kristal) Hayes and Jim (Summer) Hayes; daughter Gina Hayes; brother Ron (Laura) Hayes; grandchildren Gage, Paige, Piper, D.J., Izzy and Abby; many nieces and nephews; and countless cherished friends. Services to honor Rick will be Wednesday at 1:00PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with visitation beginning at 11:00AM. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
