Richard E. Fitzpatrick

Richard E. Fitzpatrick age 88 of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Miami Valley Hospital.  He was born the son of Elizabeth (Chappell) Fitzpatrick on August 19, 1934, in South Charleston, Ohio.  He is preceded in death by his mother; brother James Fitzpatrick; sister Wilma Fitzpatrick; daughter Tresa Woodruff; son Michael Pate.  Richard is survived by his beloved wife Shirley (Alspaugh) Fitzpatrick of 46 years; daughters Tonya Emerson of Kentucky, & Nikki (Darron) Miller of Kentucky; brothers David (Brenda) Fitzpatrick of California, & Mickey Fitzpatrick of Springfield; grandchildren Cloe, Alex, Klaire, Randy, Corey, Elijah, Lillyana, & Natasha; great grandson Lucas; special neighbors Jim & Diane Schellhaas; longtime friend Cyndi Johnson; several nieces, nephews, & a host of friends.  Richard was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, & friend.  He will be missed by all of those who love him.  After 49 years of faithful service, Richard retired from Navistar where he worked as a mechanic.  In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening & woodworking.  Richard was known in the community as the “Can Man” as he enjoyed collecting cans.  Richard did not care to throw things out, & if it was broken, he could fix it.  Friends & family may call on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 11AM – 12PM at RICHARDS, RAFF, & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME 838 E.
