Rev. Stephen D. Steinmetz

Rev. Stephen D. Steinmetz, 69, of Springfield peacefully went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 1, 2017. He was born August 15, 1947 in Springfield the son of the late Carroll and Ruth Jeanne (Bost) Steinmetz. Steve proudly served in the United States Army including a tour of duty in Viet Nam, and was retired from Navistar-International. He was the former Pastor of Middle Urbana Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, OH. Steve was currently a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, where he taught the Women’s Sunday School Class. He read his Bible every day and loved to go fishing. He is survived by three children Kimberly (Noel) Lopez of Springfield, Stephanie Fisher of Davenport, FL, and Rev. Dave (Jill) Steinmetz of Urbana; the mother of their children Anna Y. Steinmetz; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday from 5 – 8 PM. in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Steve’s life will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM. in Springfield Missionary Baptist Church with his son Rev. Dave Steinmetz and Rev. Orbie Estep officiating.
