Raymond Earl "Rick" Lowrey

February 9, 1945 — April 19, 2025

Raymond Earl “Rick” Lowrey
Raymond Earl Lowrey, affectionately known as Rick, passed away peacefully at his home in New Carlisle, Ohio, on April 19, 2025. He was 80 years old.

Rick was born in Steubenville, Ohio, to James and Dorothy (née Allen) Lowrey. He served proudly in the United States Army before beginning what would become a 32-year career with General Motors. Dedicated, hardworking, and steadfast, Rick was respected by all who knew him—both in uniform and in the workplace.

The one true love of Rick’s life was his devoted wife of nearly 58 years, Karen (née Kern). Their love was an enduring example of partnership, commitment, and mutual respect—an unshakable bond that stood the test of time.

Rick was a loyal and loving husband, father, and friend. He was known for his exuberant personality, warm heart, and sharp sense of humor. A passionate sports fan, Rick was a lifelong supporter of Penn State football, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also had an enduring love for all forms of motor racing. Whether it was college game day, race weekend, or baseball season, Rick could always be found cheering on his favorite teams with genuine passion.

More than anything, Rick cherished time with his family. Whether taking cross-country road trips or enjoying backyard cookouts, there was nothing he loved more than being surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. His happiest moments were the ones spent in their company, creating memories that will live on in their hearts.

He is survived by his wife Karen, his daughter Amy, and his two sons, Jade and Michael. He also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Shawn, Kaitlyn, Mason, Lance, and Riayn, and two great grandchildren Waylon and Raya.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Lowrey, and by his grandparents Earl and Maggie Allen, whom he adored.

Graveside services will be held at the New Carlisle Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025. A celebration of life gathering for friends and family will follow that evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the New Carlisle American Legion Post 286 New Carlisle, Ohio

In lieu of flowers, it was Rick’s wish that donations be made to the New Carlisle American Legion Post 286, New Carlisle Ohio where he proudly served as an officer for 14 years and spent many wonderful hours playing cards with his cherished friends.
