Rachel E. Stridsberg

Rachel E. Stridsberg, 61, of South Charleston, OH passed away on June 1, 2016 surrounded by her family. Rachel was born on December 13, 1954 to Roger and Ruth Ann (Jacoby) Aukeman in Springfield, OH. She was a graduate of Northeastern High School and The Ohio State University, where she met her husband C. Geoffrey Stridsberg II. Rachel and Geoff married on August 6, 1977. She was preceded in death by her brother Eric Aukeman and father Roger Aukeman. Rachel often said that the best thing she did in life was having four daughters: Megan (Christopher) Coffey, Kathryn (Theodor) Scheid, Chelsea (Jeffrey) Frantz, and Greta Stridsberg. She took great pride in her family and being the best Oma to her five grandchildren: Rachel and Daniel Coffey, Reese Scheid, R.J. Thompson and Avery Frantz. Rachel is also survived by her brothers: Mark (Sandy) Aukeman, Blair (Sharon) Aukeman, Neil (Betty) Aukeman and Quentin (Teresa) Aukeman, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her love of family, she was passionate about horticulture, agriculture and animals. She gave countless hours to organizations such as 4H, The Ohio State University Extension Office, Master Gardeners of Clark County, and Christ Episcopal Church and remained active in her community. Rachel was a natural born teacher, landscape designer and caring friend to all she met. She remained a lover of flora and fauna until the end. Memorial services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield, OH on Monday, June 6, 2016 with visiting hours from 10am-12pm and funeral service beginning at 12pm. Rachel’s final resting place will be at South Vienna Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Ritu Salani and The James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University for their excellent care.
