Phyllis Joan (JO-ANN) Appenzeller, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, March 14, 2022, at her home north of New Carlisle, Ohio with her beloved husband by her side. Born June 29, 1926, in Xenia, Ohio to Sewell and Anna Louise Nevitt. She moved to Dayton and was a graduate of Stivers High School, she rose to become an executive secretary at Delco after attending University of Cincinnati. At age 28, she married Robert C. She overcame broken home challenges of her youth to become the moral compass of the family and her infectious laugh resonates with us today. Joan always followed recipes to the letter and spoke in a voice where you had to lean in to hear. She traveled extensively and loved her garden, cooking, and her husband to the fullest. Joan is survived by her soul mate, Robert C. Appenzeller Sr; son Robert (Kathy) Appenzeller Jr.; daughter Rebecca (David) Cain; five grand-children Shauna Boggs, Elizabeth De Landtsheer, Emily Appenzeller, Jamie Cain, and Lisa Cain; and six great-grand- children; Samantha Boggs, Joanna Boggs, Cadence Boggs, Roscoe Boggs, Jackson De Landtsheer and Hastings De Landtsheer.
