Maurice L. "Skip" Kenney, 87, of Springfield left this world today as we know it, May 14, 2018, to join Jesus Christ and his family and friends in a Better Place. He was born the youngest of 5 children of Vernon E. and Nora E. (Truax) Kenney on December 18, 1930, in Frankfort, Indiana and was a 1950 graduate of Springfield High School. Maurice served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1954. He married his high school sweetheart, Norma Jean Pitchford, in 1953. From this union came 2 children: Stephanie Lynn Kenney of California, and Timothy Brian and wife Marianne E. (Senter) Kenney of Springfield, 6 grandchildren: Jessica Lynne Kenney, Maria Renee (Kenney) & husband Timothy Oliver and their children Nathaniel, Miriam and Evan Oliver, Joshua Brian and Betsy (Hansell) Kenney and son Sean (on the way), Sarah Anne Kenney, Jeremiah Lee Kenney and Micah James Kenney. Skip entered the trade of Tool & Die maker and worked for several companies, eventually retiring from Navistar after being in the trade for 43 years. In younger days, he enjoyed tennis, bowling and golf, and was a long time member of Oakland Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years in 2012, both parents, siblings Mickey Gatten, Robert Kenney, Carl Kenney and baby Donald. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 PM. in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Maurice’s life will be Monday at 11:00 AM. in the Memorial Home with Pastor Jeff Seekins officiating. Entombment to follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
