Mary E. Diller

Mary Elizabeth Diller was born on December 23, 1924 in Medway, Ohio. She died on October 22, 2016, two months before her 92nd birthday. She spent most of her childhood and youth at homes on Lower Valley Pike near Medway. After graduation from Olive Branch High School, she pursued and completed nurses training at Miami Valley Hospital and subsequently followed a career as an RN in Dayton, Ohio. Mary was the only daughter of Clarence and Ella (Greider) Diller. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Richard (Effie) in 2012, Victor in 2014, Edwin in 1949, and Charles (Joanne) in 2014. Survivors include brother Paul and sister-in-laws Maxine and Mary. "Aunt Mary" was special and loved by 19 nieces and nephews, she was always interested in them and was pleased to hear from and about them. She was a caregiver, both as a nurse and in caring for her brother Ed, her grandmother Granny Clair, and her mother until their deaths. Following her retirement, she moved to Otterbein Retirement Community in Lebanon, Ohio where she lived for twenty years until her death. Her entire estate has been willed to a church agency that provides relief services around the world. Mary was a member and attended Huber Mennonite Church until her move to Dayton. She developed and maintained a Christian faith. A small plaque was always displayed in her home. It was a manifestation of the faith that enabled her to live and die peacefully. It reads "My grace is sufficient for thee." II Cor. 12:9. Graveside services will be October 29 at 1 pm at Huber Mennonite Church 1885 S Dayton Lakeview Road New Carlisle, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home.
