Marjorie E. Skillings



91, from New Carlisle, Ohio born on April 7, 1925, passed away in her home on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Lester & Beulah (Shoup) Neff. Our beloved mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend graduated from New Carlisle high school in 1943. She was a member and a Deacon of the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren where she met and married her beloved husband of 51 years, Robert E. Skillings, on June 15, 1945. She was a devoted homemaker, worked at Wren's Department Store, and Security National Bank. Marjorie and Robert started R.E. Skillings Supplies in 1973. Marjorie enjoyed working there in the office till she was 87 years old. She knitted over 300 colorful scarves giving them to family and friends and people at our church community dinner. She leaves to cherish her memory, Daughters; Robin (Paul) Snipes, Cheryl (Dana) Schock, a Son; Robert L. (Janie) Skillings. Grandchildren; Bryan (Shannon) Snipes, Kevin (Julie) Snipes, Darrick (Laurie) Ross, Jennifer (Darren) Platt, Jason (Angela) Skillings, Brad (Jen) Schock, Adam Schock, and Kyle (Kaila) Schock. Eighteen Great-Grandchildren; Kara and Abbie Snipes, Kaylee and Connor Ross, Emily and Cameron Platt, Hannah and Natalie Skillings, Alex, Jared, and Brandon Schock and Olivia and Owen Schock. Brother-in-law; Alvin Taynor, Sisters; Joyce McKinney, Diane (Chuck) Ervin and Pam Neff. Sisters-in-law; Lois Skillings, Mary Kathryn (Don) Severs and Nancy (Jim) Houseman. Numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Robert E. Skillings, in 1996. Sisters and brother’s Carol (Jack) Smart, Grace Taynor, Jack (Bertie) Neff Jerry (Linda) Neff, and step mom, Thelma Neff. We are forever grateful to our caregivers for their devotion and loving care they each gave our mom for three years, Kate Bowers, Keri Coy, Kay Harshbarger, Amy Saunders, and Donna Flory. The family wishes to thank the Hospice of Springfield-Dayton for their support during this time. Visitation will be 10-12 noon Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren with funeral service at 12 noon in the church with Dr. Andrew J.O. Wright officiating. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren.
