Lois A. Schmahl

Lois A. (Pennington) Schmahl, 73, of Springfield passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 after several years of failing health. She was born in Springfield the daughter of Elmer and Luna (Scaggs) Pennington and was a 1961 graduate of Springfield High School. Lois had been employed at the Ohio Pythian Home and then retired from Springfield City Schools as a school bus driver, after seventeen years. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, William E. Schmahl; three children Lisa (Tom) Van Wey of Springfield, William M. (Lisa) Schmahl of Milford Center, OH, and Lori (Chris) Johnson of Springfield; seven grandchildren Matt, Joshua and Tyler Van Wey, Alexandra (Mike) Ruhe, Nicholas (Cortney) Schmahl, Chelsea and Courtney Johnson; one great granddaughter who was the light of her life Raegan Ruhe; two brothers Elmer Pennington and Glenn (Phyllis) Pennington, both of Springfield; two sisters Betty Greer of Urbana, and Joyce (George) Shirk of Springfield; a brother-in-law Robert Schmahl of Fullerton, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be Saturday from 10AM – 12 Noon in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Lois’s life will be Saturday at 12 Noon with her grandson, Nicholas Schmahl officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
