Larry E. "Beek" Beekman, 77 of Springfield passed away May 7, 2016 in his residence. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on April 19, 1939, the son of Elbey and Eileen Beekman. Larry retired from Ohio Edison with about 40 years of service. Following retirement he delivered parts for Advance Auto and O’Reilly’s Auto parts. Larry was also a part-time auto mechanic. His greatest enjoyment was his family and in his spare time he was an OSU fan, tinkered with watches and collected tools. He was preceded in death by his parents; cousin Charles "Eddie" Crothers; and his mother’s identical twin sister Bernadine Anderson. Survivors include his wife Mary Beekman, whom he married June 21, 1959; children Jan (Mic) Daulton, Penny Parrett, Patty (Greg) Aebker and Andy (Krysta) Beekman; sister Judy (Ned) Robe; brothers John (Linda) Beekman and Gary (Mary Ellen) Beekman; grandchildren Chad, Eric, Justin, Ryan (Megan), Kayne, Karyss, Kendell and Ella; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services to honor Larry will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Memorial Home with Pastor Ryan Daulton officiating. A dinner to celebrate Larry’s life will follow the committal at the Fireman’s Lodge 703 N Bird Road. Entombment to follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
