Julia E. Worthen

Julia E. Worthen, 96, a lifetime resident of Springfield passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Villa of Springfield. She was born here December 28, 1919 the daughter of Walter and Laura (Gist) Wilson. Julia had worked for Crowell Publishing and W.T. Grant in Southern Village Shopping Center. She was a lifelong and very active member of Fifth Evangelical Lutheran Church, belonged to the Oesterlen Home Women’s Auxiliary and was a volunteer at Community Hospital. She is survived by two nephews Ronald A. Wilson of Urbana and Lawrence A. (Donna) Wilson of Springfield; a niece Shirley Baer of Springfield; family friend Howard Garrett; and three generations of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Rodger Worthen and a brother Edmund G. Wilson. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Julia’s life will be Monday at 10:00 AM. in Fifth Evangelical Lutheran church with Pastor Carol Gesalman officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
