Joseph A. Sheftic

August 6, 1960 — July 11, 2023

SHEFTIC, Joseph A. 62, of Galloway, New Jersey, loving brother and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. He was born August 6, 1960 in Xenia, Ohio, the son of the late Stanley & Martha (Shell) Sheftic. He was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Absecon, New Jersey. He loved his job as a System Administrator at the Federal Aviation Administration, William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he worked for over 30 years. He would not hesitate to go into the office any time of the day or night to keep their systems running. He coached his work softball team, the Hangar team, the entire time he was employed by the FAA and was fondly called “Coach” more often than called by his first name. He was a friend to all, never met a stranger, and was a truly kind, generous, thoughtful man. He was an awesome brother. His three nieces were his greatest treasures whom he loved more than life itself. He met some of his closest friends over 30 years ago in a gaming group in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. He loved sports and introduced his thankful family to the world of ice hockey. He was an avid fan of his home teams: Columbus Blue Jackets, Cincinnati Reds, and the Cincinnati Bengals. After moving to southern New Jersey, he also became a staunch supporter of his “adopted” teams in Philadelphia. He earned his A&P license and worked as an aircraft mechanic after high school. He graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, with a degree in Computer Science, and then began his career with the FAA. He is survived by two siblings, Steve Sheftic (Elsa) of Huber Heights, Ohio and Sue Sheftic of Centerville, Ohio; three nieces, Michelle Misra (Brandon) of Kettering, Ohio, Danielle Misra of Centerville, Ohio & Christen Misra (Chris) of Fort Collins, Colorado; cousins, relatives and many, many friends.
