John L. Adkins age 74 of Springfield, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital while surrounded by his beloved family. He was born the son of Luke & Maudie (Mullins) Adkins on July 22, 1948, in Wheelwright, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara (Roberts) Adkins of 54 years; 2 sisters Pauline Roark, & Bertha Lee Dunn; brother Billy Gene Adkins. John is survived by his sons Danny L. (Sherry Bean) Adkins of Springfield, Richard Adkins of Springfield; daughters Deborah (Christopher) Thibault of Springfield, & Melissa (Mike) Martin of Springfield; brothers Frank Lee Adkins, & Blaine Adkins; grandchildren Ashley Holland, Amber Summers, Steven Summers, D.J. Adkins, Katie Bowers, Seth Adkins, Spencer Assini, Travis Adkins, Kyle Adkins, Samantha Martin, Jennifer Martin, & Kaitlyn Martin; 11 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, & a host of friends. John was a loving dad, papaw, brother, & friend. He will be missed by all of those who love him. John was a welder by trade and worked many years for William & Bailey, along with Sweets. He was a hard worker & would not miss work. He was an avid Bluegrass music fan, with deep family roots from the Bluegrass state of Kentucky. He was a member of Saturday night mix league at Victory Lanes where you could often find him knocking down pins. He liked to keep busy but would always find the time to get together with family. Friends may call on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 10AM -11AM at RICHARDS, RAFF, & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME 838 E. High St. Springfield, Ohio where a funeral service will be held at 11AM.
