Joan M. Kirkland

Joan M. Kirkland, 83, of Springfield went home to the Lord on July 6, 2016 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on May 2, 1933, the daughter of Raymond and Minnie Cline, Sr. Joan was a longtime member of High Street Church of the Nazarene until her health prevented her attendance. At church she was involved in the visitation ministry, where she baked bread. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and gardening. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; step-father who raised her Henry E. Rowland; brothers Raymond, Jr., Jack and Richard Cline. Survivors include her husband of 37 years Hansel W. Kirkland; children Debbie (Keith) Cummings, Barry (Jennie Gephart) St. John, Lori (Fred) Lanum and David (Anne) Kirkland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and several brothers and sister-in-law. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Entombment to follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum. Memorial contributions are requested to the donor’s favorite charity.
