Jerry Lee Downey

Jerry Lee Downey, 81, of New Carlisle, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on July 14, 2024. He was born November 11, 1942, in Jackson, OH, the son of the late Russell and Louise Downey. Jerry was a Veteran of the U.S. Airforce. He worked as a diesel mechanic, retiring from ANR Freight Systems and later worked part-time for Vandalia Rental. Jerry enjoyed taking his hand-built 1934 Ford to many car shows across the area. He also was a woodworker, who built his own home along with many projects. Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years Edith; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Karen Downey; grandchildren Dustin (Kaela) Downey, Brandon (Aunna) Downey, and Chad (Dorian) Downey; great-grandchildren Tahlon, Lukah, and Dean; several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; son Brian Russell Downey; and sister Susan Baltuch. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 12-2pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, with a graveside service following at Medway Cemetery.
