Jerry Edward Benge, 66, of Springfield, completed this life’s journey on Friday, October 21, from Eaglewood Village, Springfield. He was born June 17, 1950 in Marion County, Ohio to John Garold and Nellie Mae (Foos) Benge. He moved to Springfield in 1961 and graduated from Springfield South High School in 1968. Jerry received a diploma from The Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati, Ohio, and worked in a variety of art and design studios as well as running his own business, JB Designs Studio. He attended Ivy Tech State College, Indiana, with a specialty in graphic design where he earned the Louie XXV Award two years running and the 2000 Silver Louie Award for the graphic art work titled "It’s In Me Bones." Jerry was a talented artist and a good friend to many. He joins family and friends on the next phase of his journey including his parents and his brother, Jim Benge. He leaves behind two sisters, Joyce Thompson of New Hampshire and Janet (Tom) Kushmaul of Springfield, two brothers, John (Val) Benge of Tennessee and Joel Benge of Dayton, nieces Julia (Rick) Chase of New Hampshire and Ann (Patrick) Symington of Massachusetts, nephews Tom (Elizabeth) Kushmaul of Urbana, Tim (Crystal) Kushmaul of Dayton, and Dan (Nanci) Kushmaul of Colorado, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Arrangements are being handled by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. A service to commemorate his life will be held at Highlands United Church of Christ with Pastor Avery Sledge officiating at the convenience of the family.
