Jarold Higgins

Jarold “Jerry” Higgins 80, of Sidney passed away early Thursday morning, June 20, 2024. He was born on January 8, 1944, to the late Loy & Ressie Higgins. Jerry Higgins worked for MPI Labels for many years and went on to retire from his own business, Stillwater Graphics. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. He was an athlete in high school and still played softball and golf throughout his life. He was a passionate fan of all Cleveland Sports. Jerry started the Sonrise Express Ministry in 1995, taking food and clothing to the needy in Appalachia. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Ralph & Ish Higgins, a grandson Andriece Powe. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Higgins (Smith); children, Andrew (Carrie) Higgins & Erin (Jonathan) Cress; grandchildren, Kiavma (Chris) Powe, Sean Higgins, Tiffani Higgins, Brooke Haynes, Aaron Haynes, Jacson Cress, Josie Cress & Jayla Cress; great granddaughter Emma Powe; brother, Manuel Higgins; sister, Kay Wellman and many nieces, nephews & other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County. Visitation will be held at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle, Ohio on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 10 am – 12 pm with the service to follow at 12:15 pm at the chapel at Glen Haven Cemetery officiated by Pastor Jason Norman.
