Janice Louise (Baldwin) Delaney, 82, of South Charleston, Ohio, passed peacefully on Wednesday evening, October 26, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 23, 1934, to Walter Eugene and Laura Ida Baldwin, Janice was a lifelong resident of South Charleston and a 1952 graduate of South Charleston High School, where she met her loving husband of 64 years, Edwin Delaney. Ed and Janice had three children, Rickie "Rick" Eugene, Randy "Tojo" Edwin, and Sherri Lynne. Janice spent many of her years as a homemaker and an office manager for the family business, Delaney Plumbing and Heating. In addition to caring for her own family of five, Janice was fondly known as a "second mother" to many others, including the family’s German exchange student, Werner "Vern" Heimer.
Throughout her life she was a member of several different clubs and organizations in the community. As a former 4-H member she continued to support the clubs and kids involved with the Clark County Fair. She and Ed also attended the annual Golden Wedding Ceremony at the Fairgrounds on multiple occasions, celebrating over 50 years of marriage. In addition to her continued support for 4-H, Janice was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star of South Charleston, a former member of the South Charleston Community Club, and she previously enjoyed her time on the "South Charleston Housewives’" Bowling League. She also very much enjoyed watching the Budweiser Clydesdales, of which she had the privilege of seeing and visiting with, in person, in recent weeks. She was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to supporting her children and grandchildren in their respective sporting events, as well as showing her support and love for the Cincinnati Reds, where she often attended Opening Day; a season ticket holder for 29 years. Janice is survived by her husband Ed, her three children Rick (Pam) Delaney, Randy (Lorie) Delaney, and Sherri (Jake) Schaaf, all of South Charleston; three sisters-in-law; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her dear German son and daughter-in-law Vern and Anke Heimer of Konstanz, Germany; and many other extended family members including nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Walter, mother Laura, and brother Eugene. A memorial gathering will be held by the family, in Janice’s honor, at the Locust Hills Golf Club on Sunday, November 6, 2016 between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers or gifts the family requests that donations be made to the Madison Township Fire & EMS Department or the South Charleston Community Club Scholarship Endowment Fund. Arrangements entrusted to the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.richardsraffanddunbar.com.
