RYDER, James C. 61, of South Charleston passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015. He was born August 6, 1954 in Springfield the son of James and Betty (Dalie) Ryder. Jim had worked for O.S. Kelly for 23 years and was employed as Maintenance Supervisor at Morris Bean Co. for 20 years. Our family had major health issues through the years, but we never had an issue with work, Thank you Morris Bean. Jim gave his heart to Jesus Christ and was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Jim was a husband, dearest friend and hero to his wife Phyllis, and was always there in times of crisis for her, and was an inspiration to their children. Jim was a kind and caring person, ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. He loved Shawnee Braves Football and went to every game for 20 years, always with his football buddy, grandson D.J. Hayden #23. Thank you D, you are his #1 buddy. Jim is preceded in death by his daughter Sabrina Renee Ryder, an 18 year heart transplant survivor; his parents; brother Joseph A. Ryder; niece and nephew Sarah and Reese Kibler; niece Tammy Ryder; infant niece Naomi; in-laws Erma and Sam Oty; brother-in-law Sammy Oty; uncle Paul Strader; and nephew Timmy Oty. His survivors include his wife of 40 years, Phyllis J. (Oty) Ryder; our one and only son and blessing, James C. (Vanessa) Ryder of South Vienna; granddaughter Makayla Rae Ryder, our sunshine; grandsons Baylor James Ryder, full of inspiration, and Dustin James Hayden, our gift from God; son-in-law Dusty (Kim) Hayden, God's gift to our family; step grandchildren Whitney Cheek, Emily Bechtel and Brittany, our prayers answered; brothers John (Jean) Ryder, Tom Ryder; half brother Kipp Ryder; sisters Sandy (Gary) Fenton, Sue (Bill) Maple, Mary (Johnney) Kibler; Kate Arnold and Jeannie Lewis; half sister Jamie Ryder Goldmeyer; sister-in-law Mary Ryder; niece Sarah Ryder; many other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 PM. In Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 427 S. Hubert Ave., Springfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM. in the church with Pastor Orbie Estep officiating. Thanks to all the family and church family for your prayers and support.
