James Lee Bennett, Jr.

In memory of James Lee Bennett, Jr., born August 16, 1955, in Springfield, OH, who died unexpectedly on August 15, 2016. The son of James Lee Bennett, Sr., and Wanda Lenore Wagner (both deceased) of Springfield, he is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Cynthia, and their son, James Bennett, III; his sisters, Wanda Malloris of New Carlisle, OH; Donna Schubert of Fishers, IN; and his brother, David of Springboro, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Woodley, of Mineral Wells, Texas. James, known as "Jimmy" or "Jim" to his family and friends, grew up in Springfield before enlisting in the Air Force in 1975. During 11 years of active duty, he honorably served as a machinist and 7-level aircraft structural specialist, earning the Air Force Commendation and Achievement medals before being medically discharged in 1986. Jimmy loved to fish in the lakes and streams of Clark County, enjoyed bowling and a good game of euchre with family and friends; his good nature and unrivaled sense of humor were always on constant display. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, August 22, from 11:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m at RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME, Springfield, with services at noon, and burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.
