Jack Arnold "Sparky" Sparks, 83, of Springfield peacefully passed on to his next life on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was born November 28, 1932 in Lucasville, Ohio the son of Alva and Shirley (Childers) Sparks. Jack retired March 31, 1989, after thirty years of service at Navistar/International, where he had worked many years in the press room and retired as a truck driver. Jack really enjoyed buying, reselling and rehauling farm equipment, his favorite being Ford tractors. Jack also liked buying and selling antique cars, and riding motorcycles through the years. He was a longtime NASCAR fan and was inducted as an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. He will be terribly missed by anyone who knew him. Jack is survived by his wife Thelma (Mathews) Sparks, just shy of 64 years of marriage (May 10, 1952); two sons Jack L. (Joanne) Sparks, and Jeff G.(special friend Hydy Ripley) Sparks, both of Springfield; five grandchildren Jeremiah Sparks, Jason Sparks, Nicole (Ein) Whatley, Matthew (Megan Dickson) Sparks and Austin Sparks; six great grandchildren Jesse, Michaela, Dylan, Hunter, Hannah and Gabrielle; one great great granddaughter Aryson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog Buffy, who will miss grandpa so much. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harold Everett Blevins. Visitation will be Monday from 2 - 3 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Jack’s life will be Monday at 3:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Gary Noble officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
