News Death Notice

JOHNSTON, Jack 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 9. He was born October 17, 1928 in Macon, MO the son of Homer Allen and Frances Belle (Shunk) Johnston. A Springfield resident since July of 1959, he was employed by Navistar until his retirement in October 1989. His favorite pastimes were gardening and fishing. He married Marjorie Joan Bauer on December 4, 1948, a union of 67 years. Jack and Marj raised four children, Brenda Sue (Ronald) McConkey, David Alan (passed away on August 20, 2011), Mark Lawrence (Sue), all of the Springfield area, and Paul Michael (Lora) of Patterson, New York. In addition to his surviving children and daughter-in-law, Diane Johnston, he leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Philip (Kris) Johnston of Corpus Christi, TX, Evan Johnston, of Springfield, OH, Emily (Ryan) Moore of Auburn, WA, Tahlia (Brian) Crosswhite of Springfield, OH, Steven (Aimmy) McConkey of Downey, CA; 2 great-granddaughters Briauna and Nadiya Crosswhite of Springfield; 3 sisters Betty Jo Ross of Springfield,IL, Patsy Lou Palaschak of Lake Tahoe, CA, Donna Darlene Ruberstall of Streator,IL; and one brother Larry Lee Johnston of Streator,IL. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with John Rice of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Interment to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
