Jack L. Brubaker, 90, of Springfield peacefully passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017. He was born November 18, 1926 in Pontiac, MI the son of John Frederick and Osa Stella (Thompson) Brubaker. Jack served in United States Army during WWII in the South Pacific Theater. After the war he attended trade school and went to work on the New York Central Railroad as a fireman. He then worked thirty-seven years at International Harvester as a truck driver. Jack was a member of First Christian Church, Springfield, OH; Fielding Lodge #192 F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton; was a volunteer firefighter in South Solon for thirty years; and served on the Village Council of South Solon. Jack was a friend to all and would help anyone. He loved his family, his church and his country. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Randa "Hope" and Don Leeds of Cedarville, and Twyla and Richard Schillhahn of Springfield; two grandsons Matt Leeds of Bowersville, OH, and Tim Leeds of Frederick, MD; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife Betty G. Brubaker; second wife Garnet Brubaker; brothers Joseph and John Frederick Brubaker, Jr.; and a sister Frances Ann Gross. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 – 11 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Jack’s life will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM. in the Memorial Home with Dave Augustus officiating. Burial will follow in Grape Grove Cemetery.
