Hugh J. Burton

Hugh James Burton (“Boo”), 42, passed away March 6th , 2025 in Springfield, Ohio.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18th, at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home, at 11am. The funeral will begin at 12 noon, after which Hugh will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park.  Hugh was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Karla M. Daniels and Donald Burton on November 23, 1982. Due to his multitude of health and medical complications, he spent his first six years of life at Dayton Children’s Medical Center. When he was released to come home, Hugh required a village of loving people to attend to his special needs. Amongst those was his mother Karla, his maternal grandmother Ruby who spearheaded making sure he spent time with family at home, Cookie and Glen with whom he lived, The Mueller Center, Vienna Meadows, and Empowering People, The Creative Learning Workshop, Developmental Disabilities of Clark County and numerous others who made his wellbeing a priority. In these nurturing environments, he learned to communicate by learning sign language, enjoyed time outdoors, and developed a fondness for chocolate pudding, Pepsi, watching Queen Latifah movies, taking long car rides, watching nature movies, and loved thunderstorms . Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents John and Ruby Hodge, his uncle Michael Hodge and Great Uncle Alexander McCarty.  Hugh is survived by his Great Aunt Virgina McCarty of Springfield, sister Stephanie Daniels and niece Amir Daniel of Cincinnati, his brother Terrence E. Daniels of Springfield, nephews Amonte Howard and TaQuan (TaKaylie) Daniels of Springfield, nieces Amethyst (Doug) Mollett and Teraya (Keilyn) Paris of Dayton, Also his sister in law CarLa Howard-Daniels of Dayton, with whom he had a special fondness for as she was formally was his nurse at the day hab facility he attended. He also leaves behind 7 great nieces and nephews, many cousins, and many caregivers and staff that adored him.  Special mention of his care providers-Tammy White, Deonsha Jackson, Brinita Bush, Jennifer, Shannon, Tim, Jamie, Theresa, and Dr. Catherine Earl.
