GAMBLE, Hilda K. 70, of Springfield passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016. She was born September 11, 1945 in Springfield the youngest of 17 children of Sampson and Edna (Smith) Carter, Sr. Hilda worked as a nurse's aide in Tulsa, OK and in Springfield for 22 ½ years, and retired as Head Cook and Kitchen Manager at Duff's Smorgasbord. She was a member of Springfield Freewill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in church. Hilda is preceded in death by her husband James O. Gamble in 2009, and 15 siblings. She is survived by her sister Stella Lyons of Springfield; two stepsons Jerry (Medie) Gamble and Larry Gamble; two step grandsons Dr. Kevin and Kyle Gamble; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend Trixie Watts; and her church family, who was very important to her. The service to honor Hilda's life will be Monday at 1:00 PM. in the Springfield Freewill Baptist Church, 1825 Sunset Avenue, with Rev. Charlie Crider officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family is being served by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
