Frederick Nicholas Hanson, Jr., 85, of Springfield passed away Sunday October 30, 2016 in his home. He was born June 16, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Frederick Nicholas and Jane A. (Ledwith) Hanson, Sr. Fred served twenty years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Technical Sergeant from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He then worked eighteen years at Mercy Medical Center until his final retirement. He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years Barbara (Krautter) Hanson; three sons Kurt (Cheri) Hanson, and James Hanson, both of Springfield, and Frederick Hanson III of CO; one daughter Patricia Hanson of TN; four grandchildren Cameron, Colin and Melinda Hanson, and Amber (Keith) Soules; one great granddaughter Erica Soules. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Jane and Ann Hanson. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 -11 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Fred’s life will be Thursday at 11:00 AM. in the Memorial Home with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
