Fred V. Carter 94 of New Carlisle, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday June 13, 2023. He was born on July 12,1928 in North Ruin, Kentucky the son of the late Sanford and Linda Mae Carter. Fred was of Pentecostal faith and a lifelong member of New Life Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and sound man. Fred was a graduate of Sandy Hook High School and attended Morehead State College. He started wiring homes and outbuildings for friends when electricity was first brought to his county and that’s where he saw Lorene and knew he wanted her for his bride. Fred served proudly in the US Army where he felt he was blessed to go to Germany and further his knowledge of electronics with special training allowing him to follow his passion. After serving his country he married Lorene and started his career in Dayton, Ohio. He first worked at Frigidaire and the Lord blessed him with a job at Wright Patterson working in the Air Force Aero Propulsion Laboratory where he advanced to a position of Engineering Specialist. He was given eight suggestion awards saving them thousands of dollars. Included in one of his contributions and patents was his invention of the Heliotropic Solar Tracking System, which allow spacecraft solar panels to track the sun while charging its batteries. Fred made many friends there working over 30 years.
When Fred and Lorene married and first moved to Dayton they started going to church on Walnut Street and made many lifelong friends that they loved all their life. It built their faith and their commitment to their Christian life.
Fred’s priority was serving the Lord. Reading the Bible to his family nightly. “He is the man who gave you a cassette or CD from his church.” He loved his electronics, fixing anything for anyone. Teaching his sons broad knowledge of math and electronics and physics of which he had unique abilities and that with prayer you can do anything. Just pray and wait and the answer will come to you. He was thankful for the blessings of his many fruit and nut trees that he planted, and he nurtured throughout his life. He loved his wild birds.
Fred is survived by his children Wanda (Gary) Stewart, Mary Suitts, David (Emma Lou) Carter, Della (Andy) Dean, Janet (David Clark) Suitts, Teresa Helmick and Norman (Deborah) Carter; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Lorene Carter, brothers, Tennyson Carter, Edgar Lee Carter, Stanley Carter, sister Ramona Carter; and grandson Phillip Stewart.
