Edward John "E.J." Turner

October 17, 1957 — February 25, 2025

Edward John “EJ” Turner of New Carlisle, passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on February 25, 2025. Born to the late Edward “Eddie” and Mary Catherine “MC” (Ewald) Turner on October 17, 1957, in Dayton. EJ will be dearly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Quinton and Abigail Turner; sisters, Pixie (Chuck) Smith and Kelli (Greg) Whitt; niece, Amy (Tyler) Heskett; nephews, Kellen and Taran Smith, Landon (Madison) Smith, and Kyle (Lindsay) Whitt; and many great nieces and nephews. EJ cherished his association and friendship with Quinton’s mother, Lisa (Blanton), and her family throughout his life; they will also hold him close in memory.

EJ was a 1975 graduate of Tecumseh High School where he made many lifelong friends who proudly referred to themselves as “The Wild Bunch.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting, but, above all, had an immense love for cooking. EJ was well known for hog roasts on his homemade cooker and loved to smoke turkeys to gift to his closest friends and neighbors every Thanksgiving.

A Horticulturist who served Scarff’s Nursery for more than 25 years fueled EJ’s love for plants and trees, and EJ passed that trait on to Quinton, as well. EJ retired from FedEx Freight after more than 15 years as a truck driver.

The Turner family expresses heartfelt appreciation for the care EJ received at Vancrest of New Carlisle in recent years.

A graveside memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home.

Wishing to support EJ’s love for conservation, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation Attn: Philanthropy Department – 409 E. Monument Ave Dayton, OH 45402. Donations may also be dedicated in his memory online at Gift Information.
