Douglas “Doug” J Frank, a lifelong resident of Donnelsville, Ohio, passed away in his home after a hard battle with illnesses on February 25, 2023, at the age of 71. Born on May 28, 1951, he was the beloved son of Virginia and John Frank. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Grogg. Douglas graduated from Tecumseh High School in New Carlisle and later attended Tipp City Police Academy. Following in his father's footsteps, he joined the Donnelsville Police Department and served as a patrolman before becoming the Chief of Police when his father retired on June 1, 1974. Doug was a dedicated public servant and loved serving the community; he especially enjoyed working with and supporting the children. He was loved by the children, who were always excited to see him. He was also known for his generous nature, never hesitating to assist those in need. Douglas retired as the Chief of Police on February 28, 2019, after serving the community for over four decades. He was also the Superintendent of the Clark County Engineers, and he retired from this position as well. Throughout his career, Douglas was known for his compassion, generosity, and thoughtfulness towards everyone he worked with. Doug is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Frank and his children, Nikki (Matt) Williams, Chad (Lysa) Frank, and Angie Mullens. He will be deeply missed by his loved grandchildren Sara Williams, Olivia Williams, Aaron Frank, Codi Frank, Alli Moore, Katie Lemming, and Gracy Byers, Cassie Miller (Scott), Lizzy Mullens, and Joey Mullens as well as several great-grandchildren. He also had special friends Dale Gentry, Mallory Gentry, and Bud Karnes and special sister-in-law Sue (Doug) Rothery. Douglas J Frank was an integral part of the community, and his absence will be felt deeply by all those who knew him. He was a kind, generous, and thoughtful man who touched many lives throughout his career. His legacy will continue to inspire and influence generations to come. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 5-8pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. The funeral service to honor Doug will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Donnelsville Cemetery.
