Darrell James "Jamie" Massey

Darrell James “Jamie” Massey, 49, of New Carlisle passed unexpectedly as a result of an apparent heart attack on Saturday, May 4, 2024. He was born on September 14, 1974, to William “Bill” Massey and Ladeena “Dee” McDaniel Massey. Jamie loved baseball and was an avid collector of baseball cards. He enjoyed music, NASCAR, and riding his motorcycle. Jamie loved to hunt Morrel mushrooms. He worked for Oakes Door Service since 1995, enjoyed his job, and hardly ever took a vacation, his customers loved and appreciated him. He had many lifelong friends as well as many that he met through his life’s journey that he loved. Jamie will be remembered for his kindness, hard work, and sense of humor. He is survived by his mother, Ladeena “Dee” Massey, of New Carlisle; daughter, Laken Rae Massey, of Troy; sister, Lena Massey, of Joplin, MO; brother, William “Bill” Massey Jr., of Sanford, NC and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Bill Massey, and his maternal grandparents, James Elwood & Mary McDaniel, Nancy McDaniel Short and James Herman Short, paternal grandparents, Betty & Ray McFadden and William H. Massey. Visitation will be held at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, and on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 11 am until the service to celebrate his life beginning at 12 noon.
