54, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away January 23rd at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Darlene is survived by her beloved husband Richard Carpenter of New Carlisle, her three daughters Heather Evans of Troy, Sheena Brown of Huber Heights, Marilyn Tebbe-Gadd of Trotwood, five grandchildren Gabriella Marie, Jason David, Alanna, Farrah, Justin, and Jason, as well as her lifelong friend and mentor Sheila Swanson and her husband Ron and numerous extended family members. She is preceded in death by her mother, Norma Dillon (née) Tipton of Dayton. Darlene led an unparalleled life full of adversity, perseverance and triumph. A single mother of two young girls, she went back to school in her mid-twenties and obtained her GED which led to her eventual training as a nursing assistant. Throughout her life she demonstrated a strong work ethic and an unyielding resolve to provide her children with a better life than she had been given. Never one to shy away from any obstacle, Darlene overcame a difficult childhood, estranged family and went back to school a second time to receive her CDL. A proud mother and grandmother, she showered love and gifts upon her grandchildren never forgetting to remind them how much they were loved and welcome in her home. Darlene spent most of her life single, focused on raising her children. She never felt truly complete until she met her soul mate Richard who made her happy every day they were together. She was known as an avid animal lover who loved and spoiled rotten her 4 small dogs. An admirer of all things shiny and beautiful, Darlene was never seen without at least a few rings on her fingers. She will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan ICU Staff for the professional and compassionate care she received. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29th, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR AND FRALEY FUNERAL HOME in New Carlisle. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, January 30th at the same location. Burial will be at Hill Grove Cemetery in Miamisburg.
