Dale Elwood Shroyer

Dale Elwood Shroyer, 96 of New Carlisle, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2016. He was born on June 11, 1920, the son of Earl and Ruth Roberts Shroyer. He resided at the Ohio Masonic Home, Springfield, Ohio and was a member of the Mason's. He attended Maiden Lane Church of God and the Chapel at Masonic Home. He was a farmer and semi-truck driver for 65+ years for Evans Potato Farm, New Carlisle. His passion for working kept him from retiring until the age of 90. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at the Masonic Home. Dale served in the U. S. Army during WWII and received the Purple Heart for his bravery. Dale was proud to serve for his country. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by 3 sisters, Bertha Parker, Clara Orth Ochs, Frances Sehon and 2 brothers, Ralph Shroyer and Roy Shroyer; 3 daughters and spouses, Beverly (David) Schiller of New Carlisle, Melody (Paul) Snyder, New Carlisle and Dale (Tom) Langley, Springfield; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Tammy (Greg) Justice, Loura (Gordon) Scott, Krist (Jolene) Schiller, Michelle (Ben) McKay, Melissa (Andy) Gundolf, Bryan (Nicolle) Langley, Stephanie (Jason) Errett and Jessica (Richard) Jenkins; 21 great­grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren . Dale was extremely overjoyed that he lived to be part of two different five generations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Wissinger) of 64 years of marriage, step-son, Martin Denney, 2 sisters, Helen Chapman and Esther Hinkle, and 1 brother, Lloyd Shroyer. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM in TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME. A funeral service to honor Dale will be Thursday at 10:30 AM in Maiden Lane Church of God.
