Chloe Ella “Jeep” (Windle) Linder, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all, went to be with the Lord on February 8th, 2023 at age 87. Jeep was born September 6th, 1935 in McDermitt, Ohio, the 6th child of Mary and Ernest Windle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bill, Ernest “June”, and James “Snook” Windle, sisters Irene Benson, and Flora Ellen Windle and great-granddaughter Natalie Miller. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roy Simmons Linder, sons Mark (Amy) Linder, Clark Linder (Susan Tyree), grandchildren Nate (Lori) Linder, Kimberly Linder (Jamie Miller), Kelly Linder (Tim Wilkinson), Chelsea (Zachary) Evans, Danielle Linder (Forest Kelly), Caleb Linder, Bailey Linder, and great-grandchildren MacKenzie, Allyson, Emily, Meghan, Bella, Caie, Zayden, and Zeke.
She was a faithful member of Medway Baptist Church and helped bring children to God through her patient Sunday School teaching for over 40 years. Her devotion to God was evident in every aspect of her life. She led by example and shared the love of Jesus with everyone she could.
Jeep was creative in so many ways. She was blessed with artistic talent, painting hundreds of beautiful pictures. She excelled at photography, poetry, drawing, painting, decorating, and writing. She used her talent for art to honor God by painting colorful murals in the hallways of the children’s church and her musical talent singing praises in the choir. Her artistic eye saw the beauty in all God’s creations. She was an avid gardener with an exceptionally green thumb. Flowers and vegetables grew in abundance and were, of course, shared with all.
Jeep loved baking and sharing treats with her many family and friends. Her Christmas cookie decorating parties were loved by all. Her bustling kitchen will be remembered by so many children making their cookies for Santa over the years. Her bread, renowned in the area, was often baked a dozen loaves at a time and was eagerly received by grateful recipients.
Jeep’s undying faith comforted her throughout her long illness. She wrote the following about her life:
“I have been blessed with a wonderful life. Say nothing good about me and say nothing bad about me. I just did the best I could while here on earth, for where I was at the time. Wrote a little poem as I leave for my heavenly home. I wrote this because I don’t know when my life here will end, but I do know where I’m going. So, I want this to be read to my loved ones left after I’m gone on to be with Jesus and friends.
I Use To…
By Jeep Linder
I use to be able to climb a tree
Now I just lookup and see where I use to be
I use to be able to run and keep up the pace
Now I just tag along while others run the race
I use to think getting old was far away
Now I just can’t believe I’ve reached that day
I use to dream of heaven and how great it would be
Now with each passing day it will soon be a reality
I use to wonder what death is like after this life ends
Now I know I’m just going home to be with friends”
As we say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, may we always remember her selfless giving spirit and love for all of us. She will be forever in our hearts.
