Hansgen, Charles E. “Buzz”, 91 of Springfield passed away May 17, 2022, in his residence. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 2, 1930, the son of Raymond and Margaret Hansgen. Buzzard proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from International Harvester as a paint inspector with 35 years of service. Buzz was a well-known drummer in the area, having played in several bands; he was also a little league and babe ruth baseball coach; and Buzz had been a wrestler in the area for several years. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol Marie Hansgen; brothers Ronnie Hansgen, Kenneth Potts, Bobby Potts, and Leroy Potts; and a son-in-law Robert Smith. Survivors include his children Danita (Joie) Cave, Mark (Vick) Hansgen, Cindy (Rob) Dove, William (Lisa Parsons) Hansgen, Jane (Chris) Barker and Jami (Don Jacks) Hansgen; twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Services to honor Buzz will be Wednesday May 25, 2022, at 1:00PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
